Jared Hager
Jared is Senior Counsel with greater than two decades of complex civil litigation, civil rights litigation, and appellate clerkship experience. Jared’s approach to litigation emphasizes meticulous case preparation and trial readiness to deliver results for clients facing complex legal challenges.
From 2021 to 2026, Jared served as a Trial Attorney with the Special Litigation Section of the U.S. Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division. There, he investigated cities, counties, and states for compliance with the Constitution and federal statutes, enforced civil violations of the Freedom to Access Clinic Entrances Act, and ensured that people with physical and mental disabilities are afforded their rights under federal law. Prior to that, Jared spent 5 years as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the District of Oregon, where he defended federal agencies from all types of claims for damages in federal district court and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. He prevailed in more than 20 appeals on behalf of the United States. As an AUSA, Jared was responsible for enforcing federal civil rights laws and discharging the nation’s obligations under the Hague Convention on the Taking of Evidence Abroad in Civil or Commercial Matters within the District of Oregon. As collateral duties, Jared served as the District’s Affirmative Civil Rights Coordinator, Diversity Chair, and Reasonable Accommodations Coordinator.
Before public service, Jared practiced at an internationally recognized Seattle-based law firm. There, he successfully defended more than a billion dollars of liability in disputes about outer space technology, recovered hundreds of millions in insurance recovery actions, and counseled some of America’s premier companies on product liability risk management issues.
Jared graduated summa cum laude from University of Minnesota Law School, and ranked number one in his class of 237 students. Before entering private practice, he clerked for the Honorable Ronald M. Gould of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in Seattle, Washington. Jared lost his right leg at the hip due to a rare form of cancer in 1990, and has been personally involved in the disability rights movement ever since. In his spare time, Jared enjoys playing chess and solving crossword puzzles, enforcing due process at poker games, and attending every conceivable Pacific Northwest sports event.
